ROLE:

Construction Manager

Bismark Construction acted as the CM from design development for remediation of the 29,445sf Penfield Pavilion located at Fairfield Beach and oversaw the excavation of an estimated 7,000 tons of contaminated soil underneath and around the perimeter of the building.

This Project presented key challenges that require careful planning and execution. The Project required the removal and transportation of contaminated soils which must be handled according to all applicable regulations, safety standards and testing.  Scope of work included bringing the final grade underneath and around the perimeter of the Pavilion from Elevation 11’-0 to Elevation 8’-0 per FEMA requirements. The Project required the existing structural grade beams and columns to be removed and new beams, columns, helical piles (441) and pile caps to be installed. These installations are carefully executed while maintaining shoring and structural integrity of the building. Upon completion, new finish deck design with stairs, ramps and railings will be implemented to provide accessibility to the Pavilion. This construction was necessary for Penfield Pavilion to meet FEMA & DEEP requirements and to excavate and remove all contaminated soil to ensure environmental and public safety.
