Trumbull Early Childhood Education center was constructed on the campus of Middlebrook Elementary School campus. This remained a fully operational campus during construction. During pre-construction we were able to work with the town BOE and building committee to understand the daily flow of the existing elementary school to identify time sensitive traffic concerns that lead to un effected bus / parent drop off requirements.

The new preschool construction location required life safety planning as we were within 20 feet of the existing school. Phasing logistics planning was a key factor to identify with the existing activity during construction to plan new fire exit loads with the fire marshal and staff. We worked closely with the building committee and our design team to carefully select interior finishes and overall design that would accommodate the special needs of future students. Construction bid packages were phased as plans were developed. Despite facing an 8-month construction schedule and winter conditions, we managed the difficult site, coordinated tasks, and successfully delivered the facility on time and under budget.
